Summary:
Despite challenging weather, we are so glad we decided to do a private tour of Skiathos with Captain Dimitris. He expertly brought us to beaches which otherwise wouldn't have been accessible owing to the weather conditions, allowing us to see and enjoy the beauty of the beaches and landscapes of the islets and the main beaches. Stories of the island, its development, and most interesting for the history buffs out there we learnt and saw the very ancient site and landmark of the Lighthouse of Xerxes which predates that of the Lighthouse of Alexandria. It's like we were there, imagining Xerxes boats on their way to fight the Athenians, the makeshift boatyard on the Xerxes beach etc. not to mention the private skipper lesson for our 5 year old enthusiast! Dimitris is a seaman with the DNA of generations of captains that came before him, definitely worth also meeting and learning from him! Thank you for making our trip to Skiathos a real trip, you haven't lived skiathos unless you've experienced the sea....
